St. Thomas More School of Lake County Recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School
Each year, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and the Council for American Private Education each nominate public and private schools for the National Blue Ribbon School honor. This year, 16 schools from Indiana were selected and recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools! Among these schools was St. Thomas More School of Lake County, located in our community of Munster!
Fifteen of the 16 schools were recognized in the “Exemplary High-Performing Schools” category, while St. Thomas More School was nominated in the “Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools” category. This category recognizes schools that go beyond expectations in narrowing achievement gaps between groups of students and the entire student body.
I want to congratulate St. Thomas More School of Lake County for achieving this high honor and point the spotlight towards the parents, educators, school leaders, and brilliant students who made this possible! I am very proud!

Central Midwest Carpenters’ Annual Open House

On Sept. 5, I was invited to the Central Midwest Carpenters’ Annual Open House, where I had the opportunity to see their training center and learn firsthand about the opportunities they offer to the region. I’ve always been an advocate for our unions at the Statehouse and will continue to do everything in my power to ensure they receive the resources and opportunities they deserve!

2024 Hammond Mexican Independence Parade

On, Sept. 14, I had the privilege of being the Grand Marshal for the 2024 Hammond Mexican Independence Parade! It was an honor to celebrate our rich history and vibrant culture alongside my fellow Hoosiers.
As we continue to observe Hispanic Heritage Month, let’s take this time to uplift the contributions of Latinos in Indiana and across the nation.
A special thanks to Alberto Ochoa and the HUGS Cultural Committee for coordinating a great parade!
